Supporting Children Age 0-5
Have a child under five, but aren't sure how best to support your little one? The American Library Association has released a set of guidelines to help, called Every Child Ready to Read. These guidelines focus on five skills you already do every day that will help your child learn the skills necessary to be successful in school. These five skills are: Read, Write, Talk, Sing, and Play. Check out our Early Literacy Calendar below for daily activities to do at home or on the go with your child that help develop these early learning skills, as well as support early math and science. Each day of the week is dedicated to a different skill. Just click on the skill to read about each day's suggestion. Visit the library to get your child a library card, and sign up for our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program!
